Classboard is a multiplatform tool that help teachers and parents communicate better to monitor students progress and activity

The problem
‍Teachers are burden with constant messages on whatsapp and personal number due to unclear instruction given by student to parents.

The goal
Design an app and website that helps teachers communicate with parents effectively to create healthy relationship between them.

My Contributions

UX designer leading the app and responsive website design from conceptual to delivery.
‍
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.

Understanding the user

User research

User research was conducted based on complains by teachers on social platform and interviews. I found that teachers daily life were affected as parents keep on messaging and ask repeated questions due to unclear instructions. They are open to any possibilities to reduce the workload and ease the way of communications between parents and teachers.

Persona 1: Sara

Sara is a teacher who needs a better way of communication between parents and teachersbecause they want give clear and detailed informations regarding students.

Persona 2: Maria

Maria is an accountant who needs to messages and talk with teachersbecause they need an update about children's school activity

Ideation

I did sketch on paper wireframes based on the teachers and parents needs. My focus was designing simple app that is easy to use and read.

Digital wireframes

After ideation and sketching wireframes, I created the initial design for Classboard. This design was created to help parents manage children activities in school.

Impact
Users shared that the app help parents communicate with teachers easily. One quote from peer feedback “This app help us manage and monitor our children activities in class”.

What I learned
I learned that effective 2 way communication is important for teachers and parents to improve students educations.

Next steps

Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed.

Created another section of students grades to help parents monitor their children progress.
